👋Why this matters

If you setup Linkio incorrectly, you can get wrong anchor text suggestions

Here's a comprehensive guide on how Linkio's default anchor text suggestion system works.

4️⃣Bringing it all together

➡️ Default Ideal Anchor Text Percentages Overview

We have 12 default ideal anchor text percentages in the system

  • National Homepage - Exact Match Domain
  • National Homepage - Partial Match Domain
  • National Homepage - No Keyword in Domain
  • Features Page
  • Content Page
  • Service Page
  • Local Homepage - Partial Match Domain
  • Local Homepage - No Keyword in Domain
  • Local Homepage - Exact Match Domain where Brand Name is not a Keyword
  • Local Homepage - Exact Match Domain where Brand Name is a Keyword
  • Local Business Service Page

Whenever you add a page into Linkio, we automatically assign one of these ideal percentages to it.

➡️ Understanding how to setup your brand correctly

The way you initially setup your brand influences which ideal percentages we assign:

➡️Website type options:

  • National
  • Local Business
  • E-Commerce
  • Software

➡️Does your domain name match your keyword exactly?

  • Yes
  • No
  • Partially

➡️Example, if you select National for "Website Type" and "Partially" for the domain name/keyword question, our system will give your homepage the ideal anchor text percentage default of "National Homepage - Partial Match Domain".

There's one more factor.

➡️Understanding How Page Types Work

Each page you add to our system is also automatically given a page type upon creation.

  • Ecommerce Home Page
  • Ecommerce Product Page
  • Company Homepage
  • Service Page
  • Features Page
  • Local Business Homepage
  • Local Business Service Page
  • Blog Content
  • Long-Form Content

Our system decides what default page type to give your page from your initial brand setup in the previous step.

If you mark your brand as an "ecommerce site" during initial setup, we'll mark any internal pages you add as "ecommerce product pages" by default.

If you're actually adding a different page type, like a blog post, you'll need to edit it manually when adding the page

You can also edit it later in the anchor text planner:

It's important to get the page type right, because the page type you chose influences the default ideal anchor text percentage.

➡️Example, This blog post on Linkio has the Page Type "Blog Content". Therefore the system automatically assigned "Content Page" as the Default Ideal Anchor Text Percentages

If I had marked it as the "Features Page" page type, then the system would have automatically assigned the "Features Page" Ideal percentage, which would have been wrong.

The difference in anchor text suggestions between Features Page and Content Page is huge. Features Page suggests almost 30% branded, whereas Content Page only suggests 7% branded.

➡️Bringing It All Together

This table summarizes the relationship between brand category, page type and default ideal percentage.

Website Type

➡️To summarize:

  • When adding a brand, answer the website type and keyword in the domain questions correctly.
  • When adding a page, double check the page type and assigned ideal percentage

If you do those 2 things, the Linkio system will mostly make the right suggestions on its own, and you'll know exactly how to fix it if need be.
